General of the Army Jaime Dominguez Buj:

Born in Valencia on March 15, 1952.

He is married to Maria del Rosario and is father of three (Jaime, Álvaro y Jorge).

ASSIGNEMENTS AND DUTIES PERFORMED:

After finishing his education at the General Military Academy, he was commissioned as Artillery Lieutenant in July 1974, being the first of his Class. He belongs to the XXIX Class of the General Military Academy and to the 262 Class of the Royal Artillery Corps. Upon his commission as Lieutenant he was assigned to the 8th Conscript Training Center, located in Alicante.

The rest of the positions held in that rank and in the rank of Captain were commanding positions in units of the Force. Thus, he served in the artillery units in the garrisons of Laayoune (Sahara), Cartagena, Ceuta, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Paterna (Valencia).

He was promoted to Major in 1987, and after he graduated from the Staff College he was assigned to the Staff of the Mechanized Division “Maestrazgo” nº 3.

In 1994 he is selected for promotion to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and transferred to the International Affairs General Sub directorate of the General Directorate of Defense Policy (DIGENPOL), being the staff officer responsible for European Security and Defense areas.

In January 1996 he was posted to the Technical Cabinet of the Ministry of Defense, where he performed his duties as advisor of the Ministers Suárez Pertierra and Serra Rexach.

He was also promoted to Colonel by selection in June 1999, remaining in his last assignment till December of that year, when he was appointed to the Army General Staff as Chief of the Personnel Section of the Logistics Division.

In June 2001 he got the position of Commanding Officer of the 73rd Anti Aircraft Artillery Regiment in Cartagena, and in January 2003 he was transferred to the Ministry of Defense and appointed Chief of the Management Body of the Recruiting and Military Education General Directorate.

In October 2004 he was promoted to Brigadier General and simultaneously assigned to the Training and Doctrine Command as it´s Secretary General. In August 2005 he became Deputy Chief of Staff of the Operations of the Army General Staff.

In December 2007 he was promoted to Major General remaining as DCOS OPS till he is posted to the Defense Staff in April 2008 as Chief of Staff of the Operations Command.

On 26 September 2009 he is appointed Commander of the Operations Command, remaining in this assignment after being promoted to Lieutenant General in March 2010.

On 27 July 2012 he is appointed as Chief of Staff of the Army and promoted to General (four stars).

He has experience in Peace Keeping Missions both under the mandate of UN (ONUSAL) and NATO (SFOR), performing duties as an observer for six months, and assigned during one year to multinational headquarters.

MILITARY COURSES AND CIVILIAN EDUCATION.

He has attended different military specific courses of Anti Aircraft Artillery (worth to mention are those of SDT and DLO), other courses common to the rest of the branches of the Army  such as General Staff, and other related to the Ministry of Defense (Human Resources Senior Management).

He studied Topography in the Technical University of Las Palmas, and holds a master’s degree in International Relations from the Complutense University of Madrid.

He speaks French (SLP 4.3.4.4), Italian (SLP 4.3.4.3) and English (SLP 3.3.4.3).
