Between 15 and 18 February, Brigadier General Enrique Gomariz Devesa, Deputy Chief of Staff Plans (DCOS PLANS) of HQ NRDC-ESP, made an official visit to Slovakia and Hungary, organised by the Corps Forward Element (CFE) deployed at Kuchyňa Air Base.

Beyond the institutional programme, the visit had a clear objective: to strengthen personal and professional relationships with our allies, gain first-hand knowledge of the situation on the ground and continue to build, step by step, solid and lasting cooperation throughout our Joint Operations Area (JOA).

The presence of the CFE in Slovakia tangibly reflects Spain's commitment to NATO and to security on the eastern flank. It represents a firm decision to stand alongside our allies, actively contribute to the stability of the region and reinforce, through action, cohesion and trust within the Alliance.

The HQ NRDC-ESP has direct responsibility for planning and operational preparedness within the Alliance. The visit by the DCOS PLANS reinforces this involvement and demonstrates that Spain not only participates, but is also actively involved in coordination and leadership within the NATO framework.

Through the Corps Forward Element in Kuchyňa, HQ NRDC-ESP maintains a constantly growing interoperability capability with the Slovak Armed Forces and other allied structures in the region. Every meeting, every exercise, and every technical coordination reinforces this progressive integration.

The visit also included meetings in Hungary with the Multinational Division Centre (MND-C) Headquarters and the Hungarian Joint Operations Command.

The programme concluded with a visit to the Spanish detachment in Lešť, Slovakia. There, he met with personnel from NATO Task Force Slovakia, currently led by the Spanish Legion, learning first-hand about the situation on the ground and exchanging views with them, personally conveying his appreciation for their work and commitment within the framework of the allied mission.
