The Commander of the NATO Allied Land Command visits the Bétera Headquarters on the occasion of its future certification as “Warfighting Corps”.
The Lieutenant General of the USA. Roger L. Cloutier, Commander of the Allied Land Command (LANDCOM), located in IZMIR (Turkey), visited the facilities of the NATO Rapid Deployment Headquarters (HQ NRDC-ESP) at the Bétera Base, this morning.
Upon his arrival at the military base, Lieutenant General Fernando García-Vaquero Pradal, Commander of the HQ NRDC-ESP, briefed General Cloutier about the activities of the headquarters in relation to the command and control of high intensity operations (Warfighting Corps) in accordance with the commitment assumed by Spain with its allies during 2022.
Both Generals shared their impressions of the NATO exercise Steadfast Leda 2021, which will be carried out at the end of the year in several countries simultaneously, including Spain, and will serve to evaluate and certify that the Bétera Headquarters is in a position to assume the planning and conduct of high intensity operations, exercising command and control of up to 80,000 personnel.
Subsequently, General Cloutier toured a command post of the HQ NRDC-ESP, deployed over collective protection tents (COLPRO). During the tour, Cloutier was informed about its operations, and was shown its command and control capabilities: agile, adapted to new scenarios and threats, and suitable to operate in any environment and type of operation, including high-intensity combat operations. He also visited an exhibition of the operational capabilities of Signal Regiment No. 21, the Headquarters Support Battalion and Military Police Battalion I.
During his stay in Spain, Lieutenant General Cloutier plans to visit several national military authorities.
