Major General José Agustín Carreras Postigo takes over as Chief of Staff of HQ NRDC-ESP.
Major General José Agustín Carreras Postigo, Spanish Army, has taken over as Chief of Staff of HQ NRDC-ESP during a military ceremony held at the Headquarters in Bétera, Spain.
Presided over by the Commander of HQ NRDC-ESP, Lieutenant General Luis Sáez Rocandio, the ceremony brought together the Headquarters' multinational staff, representing 13 Allied nations. An Honour Company from the CGTAD Support Regiment and the CGTAD Military Band also took part in the ceremony.
As Chief of Staff, Major General Carreras assumes a key role in coordinating the work of the Headquarters and ensuring that its multinational staff remains focused, integrated and ready to fulfil the missions and exercises assigned by the Alliance.
Major General Carreras brings extensive command experience and first-hand knowledge of NATO's current operational environment. Prior to joining HQ NRDC-ESP, he commanded the Spanish Legion Brigade (BRILEG), part of which contributes forces to NATO's Forward Land Forces in Slovakia.
His previous command has provided him with direct knowledge of the security environment on NATO's Eastern Flank and of the importance of integration and cooperation among Allied forces deployed in the region.
His appointment as Chief of Staff ensures continuity within the HQ NRDC-ESP command team as the Headquarters continues to strengthen its readiness and ability to plan, coordinate and conduct operations in support of NATO's deterrence and collective defence.
