CREVAL Team (LANDCOM)

From April 19^th to May 4^th, a CPP (Corps Planning Process) took place, with the aim of developing the tactical operations order for the Steadfast Leda 2021 exercise that will take place at the end of the year. This planning phase was carried out at the HQ NRDC-ESP facilities in the “Jaime I” Military Base in Bétera (Valencia).

Steadfast Leda 2021 is a NATO Article 5 command post exercise, delivering collective defence with Major Joint Operations (MJO+) force elements, but focused on the military tactical level of multi domain operations.

In these two weeks, a planning Group analysed the mission received and develop possible courses of actions. The planning process concluded with the “Decision brief” where the NRDC-ESP Commander approved one course of action for the operation. The operations order was issued to the subordinate units in order to be prepared for the exercise.

To conduct Warfighting operations demands to increase our tactical mindset, a readjustment of our posture and self-preparation in order to meet this new challenging role.

This planning process was evaluated by NATO Allied Land Command (LANDCOM) as part as the Combat Readiness Evaluation (CREVAL) that usually takes place prior to being certified as a Warfighting Corps of the Alliance

During this crisis response planning phase, about 200 officers and non-commissioned officers took part in this crucial part of exercise Steadfast Leda 2021. Allied personnel from NATO Allied Land Command located in Izmir (Turkey), Allied Rapid Reaction Corps located in Innsworth (UK) and the Joint Force Training Center located in Bydgoszcz (Poland) and some other response cells, supported the planning process of the exercise in Bétera (Valencia) for two weeks.
