The Ancient Royal Monastery of Santo Domingo, site for the Spanish High Readiness Land Headquarters and for the Commander of NRDC-ESP was the venue to host this important event. The conference, organized by SHAPE Communications Division from Mons (Belgium), was supported by the HQ NRDC-ESP, which is based in Bétera (Valencia)
The aim of the workshop was to spread and raise awareness of the significance that Information Environment Assessment has acquired in the framework of military operations. In addition, this year 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the creation of NATO and this event is focused on one of the areas that has evolved the most and has gained utmost importance in the framework of military operations as Strategic Communications (StratCom).
Around 50 communicators expertise, both military and civilian personnel coming from the NATO Command Structure and the NATO Force Structure, have participated in the seminar. In addition, different bodies from the Spanish Armed Forces have also taken part in the event.
The seminar was attended by the Commander of NRDC-ESP Lieutenant General Francisco José Gan Pampols, the Deputy Commander of Joint Force Command Brunssum (The Netherlands), Lieutenant General Stuart Skeates and the Chief of Strategic Communications of SHAPE, Mr. Mark Laity.
