Conference at the NRDC-ESP planning room

Representatives from SACT, SHAPE, JFCNPs, JWC-Norway and NRDC-ESP met on BMB

During the week of 10-14 December 2018, NRDC-ESP hosted the first conference, of many to come, in this exercise planning process. Representatives from SACT, SHAPE, JFCNPs, JWC-Norway and NRDC-ESP met on BMB to discuss the details of the exercise.

The conference was a huge success. With direction and guidance from the command, all parties agreed on the design of the exercise, the exercise objectives and the roles and responsibilities of each entity.

NRDC-ESP COS, MG Fernando Garcia-Vaquero Pradal welcomed the team and received a briefing on the accomplishments from the conference and the way-ahead towards execution.

With NATO’s recent changes to the Long Term Commitment Plan (LTCP), NRDC-ESP was assigned a very critical role as Joint Task Force Headquarters (JTF HQ) 2020. In preparation for such a role, major planning and training is required. The exercise series Trident Jackal is a HQ SACT sponsored event that provides commands the training venue required to become certified as a JHQ prior to assuming that role.

TRJA 19 is scheduled for late September through early October 2019. The exercise will be held in Spain with support from the JWC in Norway. At the end of the exercise, NRDC-ESP will be a certified JHQ and assume the role as standby JHQ for one year on 1 January 2020.
