The second rotation of the A/I XXI contingent in Iraq returns to Melilla

The General Commander of Melilla, Luis Cortés Delgado, presided over the welcome ceremony for the second rotation of the A/I XXI support operation in Iraq, which returned to the autonomous city from Baghdad on May 28th.

Melilla’s military airfield was the setting for the reunion of mission personnel with their loved ones and with fellow service members from the Melilla General Command, who had been awaiting their arrival after several months deployed in Iraqi territory.

During their mission, the troops formed part of the Force Protection Unit (UFP), made up of personnel from the 52nd Regulares Group, and the National Support Element (NSE), composed of members from other units within the Melilla General Command, carrying out security and logistical support duties.
