Corporal Belaid, assigned to the 8th Engineer Regiment, and Corporals Abdelkader and Mohamed, from the Headquarters Battalion of the General Command of Melilla, were in the library of the Troop Club on March 3rd when they heard a loud noise outside, characteristic of a traffic accident.

They immediately left the room to see what had happened and saw that a motorcycle accident had indeed occurred. A man had a leg nearly amputated at the knee.

They quickly called emergency services and assisted the injured man by covering the wound and applying a temporary tourniquet.

When the police arrived at the scene of the accident, they provided the soldiers with an emergency medical kit, allowing them to apply an effective tourniquet to stop the bleeding. The injured man had already lost a significant amount of blood, and the measure helped keep him conscious, as he was in circulatory shock.

Emergency services arrived immediately and transported the injured man to the hospital, where they publicly expressed their gratitude for the soldiers' actions, as their swift intervention saved the victim's life.
