60th Eurocorps Committee Meeting

The Spanish Army organized the 60th Eurocorps Committee (ECC) meeting at the end of October at the Eurocorps (EC) Headquarters in Strasbourg, (France).

The Spanish delegation was composed of the Chief of the International Affairs Section of the Army Staff Plans Division, who served as chairman, and two of his analysts, as well as an officer from the International Relations Section of the Strategy Division of the Joint Staff.

The representatives of the six framework nations —Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Luxembourg, and Poland— and of the Eurocorps (EC) discussed governance issues concerning the EC. This meeting served as a prelude to the Joint Committee meeting, which will be held in Barcelona on December 2nd, marking the final event of Spain’s term as Lead Nation.

During Spain’s term, key milestones included the approval of the new rotation system for the EC Command Group; the drafting of the new Eurocorps Employment Concept, in line with the tasks assigned under Vision 2026+; and the update of the Terms of Reference of the EC’s Governing Bodies, along with the initial agreement reached with Portugal for its integration into the EC as an associated nation in the course of 2026.

The HQ EC Board, an annual meeting also chaired by Spain, was likewise held, during which the main agreements reached by the Framework Nations were presented to the Associated Nations (Austria, Italy, Greece, Romania, and Turkey).
