Practice of crowd control in the exercise
The Military Police Battalion (BPM) I of the High Availability Terrestrial Headquarters organized and conducted the exercise "Ángel Guardián," developed in Bétera and Marines from June 23rd to 28th.
This is the most important multinational exercise of the year regarding military police missions, both at the national and NATO levels and in which military personnel from 12 countries participated. Thus, military police units belonging to the Army, Navy, Air and Space Army, Military Emergency Unit, Royal Guard and representatives of Bulgaria, Canada, Estonia, Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Romania and the United Kingdom intervened, as well as Switzerland, Turkey and Egypt as observers. A total of approximately 600 participants, 100 vehicles and 15 dogs.
During the same, the participating units were presented with scenarios similar to those that can be found in operations, to be resolved in accordance with national and Alliance doctrine. The objectives were to increase mutual knowledge, train together and exchange knowledge and experiences, taking advantage of synergies that will facilitate coordinated work in missions abroad. To this end, various security incidents were carried out at the command post, traffic and accident control, convoy escort, itinerary security, crowd control, eviction of buildings, detention, searches, security of a refugee camp, active shooter, protection of authorities, and taking of evidence and initiation of their chain of custody.
The most important novelties of this edition consisted of an operational organization, which highlighted the planning work, a greater use of English as a common working language and the participation of students from the CEU and Catholic Universities of Valencia of the degrees of nursing, psychology or veterinary medicine, among others, which made possible, once again, the synergies between the military and the university world.
