David: Yes, it's a scientific instrument. Did you know that you can see ancient and modern scientific and technological instruments in the museum? This one is a microscope and it is used for looking at very small things. That's why scientists like doctors and chemists use it to study cells in the body or even a drop of blood to see bacteria, microbes and other germs, which could be the cause of diseases people suffer from.

Marta: And why is this microscope here?

David: This instrument is over 100 years old and belonged to Santiago Ramón y Cajal, a Spanish military doctor who won the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1906.
