Briefing about the HQ NRDC-ESP

On 5 February, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, paid a visit to the Headquarters NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Spain (HQ NRDC-ESP) at Bétera Military Base, accompanied by the Spanish Chief of Defence (CHOD), Admiral General Teodoro Esteban López Calderón.

The visit began with the arrival of the authorities while receiving military honours. This was followed by a briefing about the HQ NRDC-ESP, outlining its mission, structure, capabilities, and role as NATO Warfighting Corps.

During the visit, a video teleconference was conducted with the HQ NRDC-ESP Corps Forward Element (CFE), which is deployed in Slovakia, along with an explanation of the Intelligence Preparation of the Operational Environment (IPOE) process. Admiral Cavo Dragone also visited a static display showcasing the capabilities of the Headquarters Support Regiment and the 21st Signals Regiment, concluding with the signing of the Book of Honour.

This visit highlights the role of HQ NRDC-ESP within NATO’s Force Structure and demonstrates Spain’s commitment to collective defence and Alliance readiness.
