The Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), General Alexus G. Grynkewich, visited Slovakia as part of his institutional agenda, following an invitation from the Slovak Ministry of Defence.

During the visit, general Grynkewich travelled to Malacky Air Base to meet the Spanish contingent, gaining first-hand insight into its mission, capabilities, and readiness, as well as its contribution to NATO’s deterrence and collective defence on the Eastern Flank.

The deployment at Malacky includes the Corps Forward Element (CFE) of HQ NRDC-ESP, a Spanish Helicopter Unit and the Signals Unit, providing command and control, mobility, and communications capabilities across the region.

The visit also included a static display of key assets and capabilities, highlighting the high level of preparedness and interoperability of the deployed forces. Spain’s presence in Slovakia is completed by the Multinational Battle Group Slovakia (MNBG SVK) in Lešť, led by Spain alongside Allied nations.

SACEUR’s visit underlines Spain’s strong commitment as a reliable NATO Ally, contributing to the security and stability of the Alliance’s Eastern Flank.
