Personnel of the HQ NRDC-ESP deliver the NATO Land Tactical Planning Course at the Sweden Armed Forces International Center.
The course is based on NATO doctrine in a warfighting corps scenario.
The NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Spain Headquarters delivered the NATO Land Tactical Planning course at the Sweden Armed Forces International Center (SWEDINT) from 15 to 26 April 2024.
HQ NRDC-ESP assumed the role of instructor in this iteration with ACOS G5 on the lead, supported by some planning team leaders and staff officers with experience in tactical planning.
Method and objectives
Under the guidance of a lead instructor and supported by selected instructors and subject matter experts, this demanding and dynamic ten-day course simulated a tactical-level planning group moving through the NATO Tactical Planning Process for Land Forces. The curriculum was comprised of multiple short lectures, followed by practical exercises and back-briefs in syndicates. In addition, the course included formal briefs to a senior mentor who performed the role of a tactical commander.
The primary target audience consisted of military staff officers and civilians who will be appointed to positions where they will be involved in planning at tactical level HQs.
This new role will also strengthen the relationships with Sweden, our new ally, demonstrating the best principles of cohesion and legitimacy. We are proud to collaborate with our allies and partners and share experiences and best practices.
