Corporals Pedroche—assigned to the Information Operations Regiment No. 1—and Pallarés—of the Signal Regiment No. 21—both medical technicians, assisted a young foreign woman who was having an epileptic seizure in the Turia River Park area in Valencia.

The events took place on the morning of July 2nd, while the soldiers were doing interval running drills in a group near the riverbed. Pallarés found the woman lying on the ground—accompanied by a friend—and showing signs of epilepsy, as she was having convulsions. He was the first to assist her and alerted his fellow soldier, who quickly came over to help. They carried out an initial assessment, checked her vital signs, and placed her in the recovery position while calling emergency services (112). When she began to regain consciousness, she was still dazed and frightened, but they attempted to communicate with her using an online translator in order to learn her medical history and whether she had eaten anything.

After stabilizing her, the two soldiers remained by her side, trying to keep her calm and monitoring her condition until medical services took over. By the time the local police arrived, the young woman had fully regained consciousness, although an ambulance transported her to a hospital for medical evaluation.
