The strategic projection for the Spanish participation in NATO exercise “Strong Lineage 25,” scheduled to take place in early June in Slovakia, began on May 16th with the embarkation of all equipment at the Port of Vigo (Pontevedra). The materiel originated from “General Morillo” Base, home of the “Galicia” Brigade VII. Personnel deployment will take place in three rotations at the end of May, departing from Vigo and Asturias airports.

The main objective of this exercise is to enhance the structure and capabilities of the Allied forces currently deployed in Slovakia, which—under Spanish leadership—must reach brigade-level strength. The exercise aims to reinforce command and control, interoperability, mutual understanding among participating units, and the response capability on the Alliance's eastern flank.

To this end, the “Galicia” Brigade VII is reinforcing its presence in the area by increasing both its own personnel and assets, as well as those from other units. This effort involves the deployment of approximately 650 troops—about half of whom belong to units of the “Galicia” Brigade VII based at “General Morillo” Base.

The remaining personnel primarily belong to the “Príncipe” Regiment No. 3 and the “Farnesio” Regiment No. 12. Alongside them, 40 containers of materiel and equipment, as well as over 175 vehicles—including combat, communications, logistical support, and medical support vehicles—will also be projected. The deployment will additionally include a helicopter unit, various unmanned aerial systems, an air defense artillery integration platform, and command and control systems.
