As part of the command post exercise “Gordian Knot 2024,” held from November 18th to 29th in Greece, the “Guzmán el Bueno” X Brigade (BRI) contributed a response cell that carried out the main effort of the operation, acting as the 34th Mechanized Division.

This exercise, conducted at the “Prokipidis” military camp in Ásiros (Greece), aims to train the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps-Greece (NRDC-GR) Headquarters as a Warfighting Corps in the planning and execution of tactical-level operations on a multidimensional battlefield.

There, Spanish military personnel participated alongside troops from other NATO countries such as Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Poland, and Norway, in collaboration with personnel from the Greek Armed Forces.

The exercise was divided into two phases. The first, from November 18th to 20th, focused on forming working teams, establishing various communication networks, and coordinating internal systems. On November 21st, the second phase began, consisting of conducting the operation at an intense battle rhythm.

The Division was tasked with conducting a passage of lines for friendly forces that had pinned down the enemy, advancing against them as they withdrew across the river. Subsequently, a river crossing was executed to secure a power plant as the objective, ensuring control of our area of responsibility and reclaiming territory that had been subject to external invasion.
