OBJECTIVES OF THE EXHIBITION
Firstly, to explain the original, prolonged and complex process of transformation of the naval war flag chosen by Charles III in 1785 to become the national flag of Spain.
Secondly, to explain to today's Spaniards, in their terms and concepts, the meanings, values and multiple messages contained in the red, yellow and red flag: progress, modernity, defence of constitutional values, and, mainly, the harmony and union of all Spaniards.
Finally, to commemorate in 2018 the historic milestone of the 175th anniversary of the decree of October 13, 1843 that completed the use, in the Spanish Army, of the colors red, yellow and red, as it ordered that the flags and banners of the regiments abandon the old colors and adopt the national ones.
