The VIII edition of the 'Cierzo Rally Ejército de Tierra 2026' National Championship concludes

Once again, the “Cierzo Rally Ejército de Tierra 2026” National Championship was successfully held, marking its VIII edition. As in previous editions, the event featured the participation of Corporal Diez, assigned to the Logistics Brigade Headquarters, who competed in the motorcycle category as a representative of the Spanish Army.

Organized by the Royal Spanish Automobile Federation and the Zuera Autodrome Sports Club, in collaboration with the Spanish Army, the events took place on September 4 and 5 across the province of Zaragoza.

On September 4, the qualifying prologue stage was held from the town of Pina de Ebro, followed by the ceremonial starting convoy, which brought visibility to the race and the participating vehicles as they passed through several towns in the area, including María de Huerva, Cadrete and Cuarte de Huerva. Later that afternoon, the rally’s official starting podium took place, with the competition continuing on the morning of September 5.

While the motorcycles competed over a 160-kilometre timed stage between La Puebla de Alfindén and Pina de Ebro, the cars competed over a 209-kilometre special stage between the towns of Villanueva de Gállego and Zuera. This stage included a section through the “San Gregorio” National Training Area, one of the distinguishing features that adds value to the rally.

In the afternoon, the motorcycles competed in the special stage, which started in Villanueva de Gállego, while the cars did likewise from La Puebla de Alfindén.

The race concluded with the official trophy presentation at the “Puerto Venecia” Shopping Centre in Zaragoza.

It is also worth noting that this event, which forms part of the official rounds of the Spanish Cross-Country Rally Championship, counts towards the Spanish Championship standings in both the motorcycle and car categories.
