The NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, together with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr, visited the units participating in exercise "Cold Response 26" on March 19th in the Norwegian localities of Bardufoss and Setermoen, including the units of the Mountain Troops Command deployed there.

Rutte highlighted the efforts of the host nation and the armed forces participating in the exercise as “key actors” in ensuring the Alliance’s security on NATO’s northern flank, noting that they have “developed specialized military capabilities not only to operate in extreme cold conditions, but also in Arctic and sub-Arctic climates.”

Within the framework of this new edition of exercise "Cold Response", NATO has deployed more than 30,000 troops from 14 nations.

As for the Spanish units, belonging to the Mountain Troops Command, their presence responds to commitments undertaken within NATO and reaffirms the Spanish Army’s commitment to its Allies, as well as its continuous dedication to preparing its units to the highest standards in highly demanding operational environments.
