Opening presentation of the Conference

On September 22nd, the Spanish Army inaugurated the 21st War Correspondents Conference at the Army War and Leadership School (EGLET), during which 27 media professionals will receive the technical training necessary to carry out their work in conflict zones.

Organized by the EGLET and the Army Communication Department, the War Correspondents Conference has been held for more than twenty years, during which the Army makes available to journalists all the knowledge and experience acquired in overseas operations.

During the opening of the Conference, the director of the EGLET, General Carlos Javier Frías, highlighted the current geopolitical instability, where conflicts are on the rise and the practice of journalism is becoming increasingly dangerous and difficult. This makes it essential for media professionals to receive the basic training necessary to carry out their work in these areas as accurately and safely as possible.

Until September 26th, the participants will receive both theoretical and practical classes from EGLET personnel, companies, and Army units, through which they will carry out “embedding” exercises at the tactical level, embarkation and disembarkation, use of equipment, as well as driving and maintenance of vehicles employed in operational areas, among other subjects.
