Exercise `Toro 2024´

Numerous units of the Army are still carrying out the “Toro 2024” exercise, which began on October 16th and will last until October 30th. This annual exercise is the main general training exercise for the Army.

The scenario proposed in the “Toro 2024” allows the training in operations conduction to the Command Posts at Division level. Generated on the basis of the “Castillejos” Division, but integrating many other elements belonging to the Maneuver Support Command, Canary Islands Command and also to the “San Marcial” Division, being the most numerous military representation of the Brigades “Rey Alfonso XIII” II of the Legion, “Guadarrama” XII and “Canarias” XVI, as well as the Logistics Brigade and the Cavalry Regiment “España” No. 11.

The exercise management creates situations that oblige the Command Posts to practice the procedures for conducting operations, obtaining and exploiting information, control and execution of artillery fires and air support, logistics and medical assistance. Simulating a scenario that is as realistic as possible for the units being trained and controlling the pace of the exercise so that it meets the training objectives that have been established.

Likewise, the execution of “Toro 2024” is being carried out simultaneously in different locations: Burgos, Huesca, Almería, Las Palmas, Madrid, Mahón, Zaragoza and Valladolid. This reflects the scale, the degree of difficulty in coordinating the activities being carried out and the effort in the area of communications and information systems involved.

All this with the aim of achieving the objectives proposed in the exercise, which are to improve the readiness and interoperability of all participating units and above all their Command and Control capability to conduct high intensity operations.
