Distributed Tactical Command Post

Distributed Tactical Command Post

Within the Brigade 2035 concept, the Combat Brigade has two Tactical Command Posts of identical capabilities that alternate in the conduct of operations and a Rear Support Command Post for backup and monitoring. During the exercise "Arredondo 24," held at the Training Center "San Gregorio" (Zaragoza), between May 18th and 30th, the full operational capacity of one of the Tactical Command Posts was reached, distributing the cells that compose it in five combat vehicles linked wirelessly.

From the Transmission Center that serves the Command Post and by radio link, the necessary services are provided to one of the vehicles that has an omnidirectional antenna that distributes them to each of the cells wirelessly (radio link).

The absence of physical cable and the greater distances in the deployment, allow to have a smaller logistical and energy footprint, greater mobility and, therefore, greater protection. Each of the cells/vehicles has been equipped with cameras/microphones favoring situational awareness and facilitating the normal operation of the Command Post.

The development of a distributed Command Post is a response to the lessons identified from recent conflicts, which demonstrate that immobility and a high energy and logistical footprint seriously jeopardize the survival of these operational organizations vital to the command and control of operations.

The aim is breaking the classic structure of a Command Post, making this command and control structure resemble a section type unit or similar, going unnoticed and not being a priority objective.
