The Transportation Group 1 (AGTP in Spanish) has transported resources of the “Extremadura” XI Brigade for an exercise for the first time to Portugal, an ally country.

From May 24th to June 26th, the AGTP 1 designed an Armored/Mechanized Tactical Subgroup (from “General Menacho” in Badajoz to the Portuguese field of maneuvering “Santa Margarida”) in the framework of the “Orion” exercise of the Portuguese Land Forces Command Army. It was also in charge of its withdrawal from July 2nd to July 4th

This joint-and-combined exercise led by the Portuguese Army Brigade was developed in the Tanco and Santa Margarida areas (June 17th - July 2nd) where NEO exercises and shooting practice took place. Spain and the US participated as allied fiorces.

A total of 35 members of the AGTP 1 took part on this transportation. They were guided from a mobile command post that traveled with the columns. For that, 11 Kynos carriages gondolas, 11 Traylona semitrailers, 4 fifty-five-seat buses and 8 LVs to move 240 military personnel, 8 Leopardo MBTs, 18 Pizarro Infantry fighting vehicles and 2 M-113 APCs. A total equivalent of 1,070 tons of weight. 41,000 kilometers were done and 20,000 liters of fuel spent.

Even though AGTP 1 resources have previously been moved to Strasbourg and to other places outside our borders, it was, however, to give support under the Logistic Framework Plan with isolated vehicles. This time, it was a convoy that has been transported.
