Finnish Lieutenant-General Pulkkinen, future Chief of the European Union Military Staff, visited on 1 March the 12th Armoured Brigade “Guadarrama” (known as BRIAC), which is stationed at the military base “El Goloso” (Madrid).

General Pulkkinen was accompanied by the director general of Spanish Defence Policy, Admiral Martínez, and the commander of the Brigade, General Conde. The day with BRIPAC was one of the activities scheduled for his official visit to Spain.

The Finish lieutenant-general attended several tactical exercises by Brigade units in the training field and was impressed by the use of advanced technology during the integration exercise of Command Teams and Hermes Control and by the power and mobility of the Leopard tank.

The visit ended with a stroll through BRIAC’s Historic Hall, which bears witness to the 350 years of history of the 31st Regiment “Asturias”, and the Armoured Vehicles Museum, where Lieutenant-General Pulkkinen heard about the history of that section of the Spanish Army.
