1st Mountain Troop Headquarters ‘Aragón’ is participating from 19th to 25th October, in a Live Exercise which is being undertaken at "San Gregorio" National Training Centre in Zaragoza, with the aim of evaluating the degree of training and cohesion of the units that make up the Mountain and High Readiness Tactical Group.

This exercise, scheduled by the Mountain Troop Headquarters commander, General Manuel Rodríguez Gil, represents the culmination of the two previous preparation phases (each lasting six months) and will allow the Mountain High Readiness Tactical Group to achieve certification in order to enter the readiness phase within the next six months.  This Tactical Group will relieve the one currently in the readiness phase, which also belongs to the Mountain Troop Headquarters.

The exercise activity is oriented to planning and conducting wartime operations of an offensive type in the international scope.  Due to this, alpha and beta type exercises are progressively being carried out, including a formal internal evaluation, which consists of conducting a continuous 36 hour exercise, with the participation of an opposition force made up of a Mountain Troop Headquarters platoon and another from the National Training Centre.  In all, more than 400 servicemen and fifty vehicles are intervening in the exercise.
