THE CHIEF OF THE ARMY STAFF VISITS THE 73RD ANTI-AIRCRAFT ARTILLERY REGIMENT

January, carried out his first visit to the 73rd Anti-aircraft Artillery Regiment in Cartagena. This visit is included in the programme of visits that the Chief of the Army Staff undertakes periodically of various units.  Upon his arrival at the base he has been received by Colonel Patricio Togores Guisasola, Commander of the 73rd Anti-aircraft Artillery Regiment.  Following official honours, the unit commander gave an update presentation on the regiment.  During the tour inside the Tentegorra base, the Chief of the Army Staff inspected the undertaking of various instruction activities, then he headed for “Barranco de los Sánchez” training camp and firing range, where and anti-aircraft defence unit was deployed and in training.  Subsequently he confirmed the missions undertaken by the Missile Maintenance and Depot Unit.  During this visit the Chief of the army Staff emphasized the additional effort made by the unit in 2010, while carrying out in addition to their habitual specific training, which has been reflected in the national and international exercises in which they have participated, non-specific training as well.  Likewise, he showed his conviction of the effectiveness with which members of the 73rd Anti-aircraft Artillery Regiment will undertake their upcoming mission in Afghanistan as members of the Operational Mentor and Liaison Team.  The visit concluded with the signing of the Regiment’s guest book.
