The Chief of the Army Staff reviews the formation The reorganisation of logistic support within the Army has been concluded on 21st January with the formal constitution of the Logistics Brigade in a ceremony presided over by the Chief of the Army Staff, Army General Coll, and undertaken on Base "San Fernando" in Zaragoza.

Present at the ceremony have been all members of the Army High Council, who, of an extraordinary nature, have met in Zaragoza to attend the event.

In carrying out the ceremony, the commander of the Operational Logistic Force, General Aparicio, presented the guidon of this new large unit to General Corres, the first to assume command of the nearly 5,000 forces that compose it.

Under his responsibility are all logistic units with an expeditionary and high readiness character: the 11th Logistic Support Group (Madrid), the 21st Logistic Support Group (Seville), the 41st Logistic Support Group (Zaragoza), the 61st Logistic Support Group (Valladolid) and the 81st Logistic Support Group (Tenerife).

General Aparicio presents the guidon to General Corres The new organisation’s main advantage is that “the entire decision-making process is notably more agile, since there is now a single command planning, preparing and conducting the support operations,” indicated General Corres. This translates into “more effectiveness and more efficiency”, he added.

The transformation of the 2nd Operational Logistic Force into the Logistics Brigade was the final step in modifications of the Operational Logistic Force in recent months.  The objective is to improve its capability, flexibility and effectiveness in support both in Spain and abroad.  It has all been aimed at achieving that the units in charge of this function are the support instruments that the Army needs and requires in the present context, where operations abroad require from it the greatest effort. The Chief of the Army Staff presided over the ceremony attended by full Army High Council
