Closure of the I Basic Mountain Course for Army Troops

Tuesday, March 2, 2021

Number: 8334

In Jaca (Huesca)

The assembly hall of the "San Bernardo" barracks, in Jaca (Huesca), is the place that has been chosen for the presentation of certificates for the I Basic Mountain Course for Army Troops.

As such, on the 26th of February, and under all security measures against COVID-19, the 37 students (out of a total of 42 selected applicants) from Mountain units and the Special Operations Command who met at the barracks, managed to complete the course, successfully overcoming its various phases.

In this sense, it should be noted that the course consisted of an instructional period comprised of two phases, both completed in the Aragonese Pyrenees (specifically, in the areas of Jacetanía, Candanchú and Astún): a summer phase that began in September and lasted until the end of October; and another winter one carried out during the months of January and February. Its objective, in which an extensive and varied program was completed, was to train the troop students and provide them with the knowledge of procedures and techniques used in the Mountain units both at the individual level and at the basic patrol level. This has made it possible to increase the operational capacity of the small units where they will be located.
