The 11th Brigade 'Extremadura' has completed the integration and evaluation exercise of the 17th EUTM Mali contingent before its deployment to this African country. The exercise, which was carried out from September 21 to 25 at the “General Menacho” base in Bótoa (Badajoz), aims to verify the operations of all units to be deployed.

The contingent consists of the Tactical Group for the protection of the “Calatrava” force, which includes personnel from the 3rd Marine Corp Fleet, a team of instructors from the Educational and Training Task Force, and the National Support Element.

During the exercise, living conditions, missions, and possible tactical situations that may arise throughout the six-month deployment were simulated. The evaluation verifies that the tactical, technical, logistical, planning, and training aspects at all levels guarantees the maximum operability of the units and the fulfillment of the mission.

The raison d'être of the European mission and this evaluation is to effectively train the Malian military to help them regain security and stability in their country, while preserving the safety of our own troops.
