NATO School Oberammergau in coordination with Headquarters NATO Rapid Deployable Corps - Spain conducted the ACO Combat Readiness Evaluations (CREVAL) Course between 28th of January and 01st of February in Betera Military Base.

The aim of this training was to prepare selected NATO evaluators and national evaluation team members to conduct Combat Readiness Evaluations in Land Units and HQs, while harmonizing NATO and national directives on CREVAL for land forces.

The NATO School Oberammergau-led course was delivered by a Mobile Education Training Team (METT) training students from HQ NRDC-ESP and some Spanish Headquarters.

The instructors, bringing NSO, SHAPE and LANDCOM experience, knowledge and expertise, delivered briefings, mentored and guided the course attendees in the Evaluation process, focusing on the concepts, conduct and methodology of the CREVAL Program.

The METT is in line with NATO’s education and training programme, always supporting the operational needs of NATO, providing additional education opportunities to HQs, supporting NATO’s transformation, partnership and cooperation goals.

The activity was designed and developed to improve the future NATO monitors and national evaluators’ practical skills, but the event’s importance resides also in the recognition that evaluation is a tool to support every Commander by training its “team” as “combat ready/mission capable”.

In the volatile international environment of our times, we should always remember that the main reason for our presence is to deter, and if necessary, answer any aggression against our common shared values, no matter who the aggressor could be. For this, trained and mission ready troops and HQs are a prerequisite of the maximum importance.
