The athletes and components of the technical staff of the Spanish delegation have been vaccinated thanks to the help of the Land Component Command (MCT by its Spanish abbreviation) —constituted on the basis of the Land Forces Headquarters within the framework of the operation “Misión Baluarte”-, which has contributed to the transfer and administration of vaccines.p>

The MCT has vaccinated 375 people with the Pfizer serum which requires two doses to provide full immunity to the virus.

To facilitate the organisation, the same protocol has been followed in all cases: the mobile teams received the vials, they contacted the personnel who coordinate the athletes to summon them, they came, the procedure was explained to them (together with the possible side effects) and, finally, they were vaccinated.

The vaccination has been carried out in different locations, beginning on May the 20th at the “Jaime II” base in Palma de Mallorca, where 19 Olympic athletes were vaccinated. Another 9 did so at the "General Alemán Ramírez" base in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and at the "Los Rodeos" barracks in San Cristóbal de La Laguna (Santa Cruz de Tenerife). In addition, doses were transferred to Barcelona, Seville, Valencia and Viator (Almería), where the serum was administered.
