HQ NRDC-ESP supports the NATO Land Tactical Planning Course in Sweden
The HQ NRDC-ESP played a significant role in the delivery of the NATO Land Tactical Planning Course (NLTPC) at the Swedish Armed Forces International Centre (SWEDINT), Sweden, reinforcing NATO’s collective training and operational readiness.
The course focused on tactical-level planning within a corps warfighting scenario and was designed for military staff officers assigned to tactical allied headquarters.
As a sponsoring headquarters, HQ NRDC-ESP provided a tailored team of instructors and subject matter experts, led by Colonel Fernando Castán, ACOS G5 (Plans). These experts covered key functional areas including planning, intelligence, fires, manoeuvre and command and control, sustainment, force protection, military engineering and CIMIC.In addition, HQ NRDC-ESP personnel acted as syndicate mentors, guiding participants through a demanding programme that combines theoretical instruction with practical exercises, wargaming and formal briefings.
Senior leader engagement was ensured through the participation of the Chief of Staff of HQ NRDC-ESP, Major General Enrique Silvela, who assessed the students’ final decision briefs. Through its contribution, NRDC-ESP enhances interoperability, strengthens professional military education and supports NATO’s ability to plan and conduct operations effectively at the tactical level.
