NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Headquarters Spain (HQ NRDC-ESP) participates in the Avenger Triad 2025 exercise, deploying its command post in Bétera (Valencia)
The NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Headquarters Spain (HQ NRDC-ESP) has participated from its base in Bétera (Valencia) in the Avenger Triad 2025 exercise, a multinational training exercise led by the U.S. Army Europe and Africa (USAREUR-AF) that took place between 22 October and 2 November 2025 in various countries, including Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, the United Kingdom, the United States and Spain.
The exercise, a Command Post Exercise (CPX), simulated a large-scale combat operation at the army corps level, bringing together seven allied headquarters under the command of USAREUR-AF. HQ NRDC-ESP contributed to the exercise from its command post deployed in Bétera, reinforcing its interoperability and its capacity for integration into multinational structures.
“Our participation in Avenger Triad 2025 has demonstrated HQ NRDC-ESP’s commitment, preparedness, and ability to integrate into NATO multinational operations,” said Lieutenant General Luis Sáez Rocandio, Commander of HQ NRDC-ESP.
The objective of the exercise was to increase preparedness, strengthen interoperability and validate NATO's regional defence plans by testing new command and control concepts in multinational operations. The exercise was conducted in coordination with NATO's Steadfast Duel 2025 exercise, allowing for the real integration of command and control systems under the same operational scenario.
The HQ NRDC-ESP reaffirms its commitment to the collective defence of the Allies, contributing to the security, stability and territorial integrity of all its members.
HQ NRDC-ESP is one of the nine high-readiness command structures within the Alliance. Led by Spain and comprising personnel from 13 allied nations, including Spain, it is prepared to deploy and conduct high-intensity operations in any scenario, in accordance with NATO's international commitments.
