Troop Inspection
The Chief of Staff of the Army (JEME), General of the Army Amador Enseñat y Berea, concluded on September 17th an official visit to the United Kingdom, which began on September 15th and was primarily conducted in London, Gloucester, Bulford, and Andover. The visit included a full agenda aimed at strengthening relations with the British Army and gaining insight into its modernization process.
On the first day, the JEME was received by his counterpart, the United Kingdom’s Chief of the General Staff (CGS), General Sir Roland Walker, at Horse Guards Parade. Later, a reception was held at the Tower of London, where they attended the Ceremony of the Keys, which has been conducted daily for over 700 years.
Working meeting with the British Delegation
On the second day, the Spanish delegation traveled to Innsworth, Gloucester, home of the Rapid Reaction Headquarters, a NATO Force structure to which Spain contributes Army personnel.
On the final day, held at the British Army Headquarters, the JEME attended a bilateral meeting with General Walker and key staff from his General Staff, gaining first-hand insight into the modernization process of the British Army.
Next, the delegation visited Ward Barracks in Bulford, home of the British Army’s 3rd Division, where, accompanied by the CGS, the JEME attended a working lunch with officers from the Household Cavalry Regiment and observed a squadron’s demonstration of the AJAX armored fighting vehicle.
The JEME’s visit to the United Kingdom reflects the Spanish Army’s commitment to strengthening ties with the armies of allied nations that, like Spain, are dedicated to collective security and defense.
