CESET Delegation Led by Its Deputy Chief
A delegation from the Army Situation Center (CESET), led by its Deputy Chief, Colonel David Cuesta Vallina, visited the Spanish contingents deployed in Slovakia on July 9th. The purpose of the visit was to assess both the progress of the units and the operational conditions on the ground, as well as to strengthen the connection between national command and the personnel deployed in the area.
The CESET’s official visit to the Spanish military personnel deployed in Slovakia began in the Kuchyna area, where the delegation was able to gain first-hand insight into the activities carried out by the Forward Command Element (CFE) of the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Spain (NRDC-ESP), as well as those of the other units that make up the Kuchyna Force contingent. The CFE, led by Spain, is responsible for coordinating NATO’s deterrence plans on Europe’s eastern flank.
The CESET personnel then travelled to the Military Training Area (MTA) of Lešt, home to NATO’s Multinational Task Force in Slovakia (MN TF SVK), which is currently led by Spain. There, they were able to gain first-hand knowledge of the current status of the mission, the operational capabilities deployed, and the future infrastructure plans.
Throughout the day, the CESET representatives toured the main facilities of the training area and were briefed on infrastructure improvement and expansion projects at the base. These initiatives are aimed at ensuring operational sustainability and enhancing the living and training conditions of the deployed personnel.
During their tour, the delegation from the Army Situation Center also visited the logistical facilities of Kosova in Lešt and observed a tactical exercise. One of the highlights of the visit was the coordinated oversight of the training, a crucial element to ensure that the units remain prepared and ready for deployment.
