The 53rd National Defense Course visits the Army Headquarters

The 53rd National Defense Course visited the Army Headquarters in Madrid on September 25th. The Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army (SEJEME), Lieutenant General Alejandro Escámez, welcomed the 40 students at the Palacio de Buenavista.

After the initial reception, they attended a lecture on the 21st-century Army, delivered by the SEJEME. During the session, they were able to learn in detail about the Army’s organization, its missions, equipment, future projects, as well as its current participation in overseas operations.

Subsequently, the students took a guided tour of the Palacio de Buenavista, where they were able to appreciate the art collections and an important part of Spain’s history.

National Defense Course

The National Defense Course is offered by the Spanish Higher Center for National Defense Studies. It is designed to provide civilian leaders in our society with a comprehensive overview of national defense. Throughout the program, the most significant national and international aspects affecting Spain’s geostrategic context are presented, along with the fundamentals of security and national defense policy, the general structure of the Armed Forces, defense planning, and the Armed Forces’ most important missions.

The course aims to promote and raise awareness of Defense Culture among authorities, senior civilian officials of the State Administration, and prominent figures from political, economic, academic, and social spheres. In this way, mutual understanding among participants is encouraged to establish personal connections that facilitate the development of their professional careers, whether in service to the State or in any other field.
