Spanish military personnel participate in the international exercise 'Toxic Aggressor' using real chemical warfare agents

Personnel from the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense Regiment (CBRN) "Valencia" No. 1 participated, along with members of the "King Alfonso XIII" II Brigade of the Legion, the Military School of CBRN Defense, and the Military Emergency Unit, in the "Toxic Aggressor" exercise, held from September 16th to 27th at the Centar ABHO (CBRN Centre) facilities in Krusevac, Serbia.

This was a Live Agent Training (LAT) exercise, in which participating personnel were trained in the detection, identification, and sampling of real chemical warfare agents (CWA).

The maneuvers were divided into two phases: basic and advanced. The first phase, which took place from September 16th to 20th, focused on individual training in the detection and identification of CWAs such as mustard gas, sarin, lewisite, and VX. This training utilized detectors like the LCD 3.3 and AP4C, as well as identifiers like the First Defender and True Defender.

The advanced phase, held from September 23rd to 27th, focused on specific training for CBRN reconnaissance involving the presence of CWAs. This included reconnaissance and sampling for subsequent transport to a reference laboratory in complex scenarios where these agents had been employed, achieving a high degree of training and unit cohesion. Additionally, during this phase, the FALCON 4G system was used to identify various chemical agents at a distance of 260 meters.
