The Chief of Defense Staff (JEMAD), Admiral General Teodoro E. López Calderón, among other Spanish military authorities and other countries of the Atlantic Alliance, attended on October 27th, at the "General Almirante" base in Marines (Valencia), the completion of the exercise "Valiant Lynx 23," carried out by the NATO Rapid Deployment Headquarters (HQ NRDC-ESP).

At the Marines base, the military authorities were able to observe in situ the direction and execution of this exercise, in which around 450 soldiers from both the General Headquarters and their support units, as well as from other NATO nations, participated.

For two weeks, the exercise "Valiant Lynx" served to test a new concept of command post with new procedures, and in which they made use of state-of-the-art technologies, adapting to the new challenges. The most relevant novelties of this exercise were a modular command post with adapted internal procedures and a new command and control tool, during which hundreds of incidents based on a fictitious scenario were simulated in order to force decision making.

The exercise "Valiant Lynx" was carried out in different locations, being the "General Almirante" base the one which hosted the main nucleus of it, and it allowed to verify that the HQ NRDC-ESP is prepared to lead multinational forces.

This type of exercise means for the NRDC-ESP HQ to be at the forefront of the new procedures, being a reference in the NATO Force Structure, and showing its firm commitment to Spain and the Atlantic Alliance.
